GOODBYE GREY! 2022 HOME DECORATING TRENDS
We cannot deny the interior design world has been dominated by the- white marble, muted tones and grey furnishings look for a while now. Well, if you’re a lover of colour – good news, this trend is officially over. According to Lina Galvao, co-founder of Curated Nest Interior Design Firm:
‘Greys are trending out after a good 10-year run’
But what is going to replace grey? Ashley McCollum, Colour Marketing Manager for Glidden says:
‘Homeowners seem to be moving away from grey and more toward warm neutrals with a touch of colour’
But what does this mean? And how can we put it into practice with our home decor?
WALL PAINT
First, let’s look at what ‘warm neutrals’ are. This means instead of using a brilliant white to paint your walls, you might opt for a shade of Magnolia – which is a warm white. Other warm neutrals include different shades of beige or cream. Our favourites include: Winter Wheat and Shortbread.
ACCESSORIES AND SOFT FURNISHINGS
Another emerging trend is ‘earthy tones’. These include deep greens, burnt oranges and warm browns that bring a feel of the outside in. You might incorporate these by adding earthy toned wall hangings or even in a rug.
In addition to earth tones, natural elements in the home are growing in popularity. This means bringing the outside in, so lots of exposed wood and even plants. You can achieve this look by accessorising with bold houseplants and natural wood shelving.
Finally, for the bold and colourful – surprising pops of colour. These are easy to add in when accessorising as you simply choose an item (this could be a vase, lamp or throw) in a contrasting bright colour.
FURNITURE
A great way to complement the natural feel bought in by earthy tones and natural elements is to add exposed wood. This can be used in coffee tables, dressers, or TV cabinets.
For the king of the room – the sofa – we suggest the Chicago Corner Sofa in Cream if you’re sticking with neutrals, or if you’re looking for an earthy tone the Ingrid Cuddle Chair in Burnt Orange works perfectly. And if it’s a pop of colour you need we have you covered with the Harriet Corner Sofa in Rifle Green.
As you can see, it is easy to incorporate these colour trends in your living space and say goodbye to grey!
