HOW TO STYLE YOUR CORNER SOFA
For larger families or just lounge lovers, the corner sofa allows for extra comfort and space, what’s not to love? Here’s how you should be styling your corner sofa.
Measure Up
As with any sofa, choosing the right size for the space is crucial. As a corner sofa will always be a large feature of the room, making sure it aligns with the other things in the space such as radiators, windows and doors is crucial.
Walkways
In the Japanese design principles of Fung Shui, walkways are very important – they indicate areas high in ‘chi’, meaning energy. When choosing a corner sofa it’s crucial to know where the walkways will be in the room. This is as simple as mapping out the movements from one door to another or just how you would exit the room.
Left or Right
Now, this might sound obvious, but which way does your sofa actually sit? Corner sofas can be left or right sided. This might mean choosing between having the sofa protrude into the room versus sit along a wall.
TV Time
Although we may not all want to admit it, the TV is a large consideration when choosing, styling and placing a sofa. Where will your TV be in relation to the sofa? Remember that with a corner sofa you may not only sit forward, but outwards from the corner depending on the size and shape.
Put Your Feet Up
The shape of a corner sofa lends itself perfectly to a foot stall. It also can mean wherever you sit on the sofa you can put your feet up. Basically, like a giant (but classy) bed! Most of our sofa ranges have a matching foot stall.
Accentuate with Cushions
Since corner sofas are on the larger side, they can really benefit from some throw cushions. Let them blend in with matching or neutral tones or go all out on statement cushions – whatever fits your style.
Corner sofas are really the Queens of the sofa kingdom and styling them can be so fun when you know how. Feeling inspired? Shop our wide range of corner sofas now.
